1. Cut down on sugar
Research shows that consuming sugar in excess not only cause acne, it also breaks down the collagen in your skin, causing premature aging. If you have a sweet tooth and really crave for something sweet, try to avoid refined sugar and go for options like honey or coconut sugar.
2. Cut out dairy
Dairy contains a hormone called androgen – the hormone triggers inflammation in our bodies, which causes acne for most (not all) people. Androgen also cause our bodies to produce excess oil sebum, which is one of the root cause of clogged pores, leading to breakouts. The worst form of dairy products for acne is heavy cream and whey isolated products as they are the most concentrated.
3. Get enough sleep
Being sleep deprived raise cortisol, a stress hormone in our bodies. High cortisol levels cause inflammation in our bodies, and triggers our skin to produce excess oil sebum – again, leading to clogged pores and leading to breakouts.
4. Stay hydrated
Drinking sufficient amounts of water helps our bodies flush out toxins, and when our bodies are free of toxins, inflammations in our bodies will be decrease, leading to clearer skin.
5. Adding these vegetables to your diet
Foods rich in beta-carotene, a form of vitamin A helps to accelerate our skin cell turnover rate which will help your skin stay clear and supple. Foods like carrots, pumpkins, tomatoes and dark leafy greens are excellent options.
